CarWash By Rose Royce - 1976

Originally recorded as Total Concept Unlimited. Norman Whitfield (of the Undisputed Truth) got his hands on them in 1975 and with new lead singer Gwen Dickey renamed them Rose Royce, to front the soundtrack for a new film "Car Wash". The film was a huge success - and its Rose Royce soundtrack album went platinum, along with the disco classic single release, "Car Wash". The soundtrack album is brilliant, and one of the albums you must own even if you haven't got anything else.

Their second album was on Norman Whitfield's own label; it contained full length versions of the excellent disco songs "Do your dance" and "It makes you feel like dancin'". Further albums produced further disco classics, like "Is it love you're after" - sampled ten years later by S'Express...

Rose Royce's fame faded with the demise of disco - but not before a UK greatest hits album got to No. 1 in the pop charts in 1980.

They recently came back to charts, with "Car Wash 2000".
