A Fifth Of Beethoven by Walter Murphy 1976

- On CD The Best Of Walter Murphy Hot Productions / Valentino Music HTCD 105-2

Disco producer (including Uncle Louie and other on the Marlin label) released his own albums in the 70's. With his "Big Apple Band" (whose members included Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of Chic) he released the international smash single "A fifth of Beethoven" in 1976 which went on to further fame a year later in "Saturday Night Fever". He specialised in ocnverting classical music into disco pieces - listen for "Flight 76" and "Rhapsody in Blue" with it's wah-wah and piano combinations. Also listen for "California strut" and "Uptown serenade" - a typical "latin hustle". And for connoissuers, try "Fish legs"...
